Our previous guests at Sati Villa Kandy, sent their luggage with their driver and took a train to Nanu Oya. The drive is just as picturesque but the train views are spectacular with endless gazing of the beauty of the hill country, waterfalls and tea plantations. Nuwaraeliya feels like a village set in England, it has a certain charm to it, with the cool weather and architecture.
Our most memorable mini van ride was on the hills of Nuwaraeliya, where a boy (knows as the flower boy) with a bunch of wild flowers, meeting us at every bend, up and down the hill. Could not believe his stamina to keep up- running straight uphill, we had to cheer him on of course. Even though one of us had allergies, we had to purchase his bunch of flowers after that show of spectacular skill.
Further on from Nuwaraeliya, if you’re all set for an adventure hike your way up to the 1141m high Little Adams Peak that offers a magnificent view of the Elle Rock, the endless valleys and Ravana Falls. Demodara Nine Arch Bridge is another architectural marvel situated 2km from the Ella town. The adrenaline junkies then can head to the Ravana Adventure Park.
